Housewarming Ceremony held at China Institute in New York,

China Institute at 40 Rector Street in New York held a grand housewarming ceremony starting from 11:00 am September 12, 2015. The opening Kong Fu performance attracted a lot of people. Many parents with their children came to consult the relevant cultural activities. Activates like dance, Taichi, Chinese cooking classes and demo teaching were conducted in the newly-updated classrooms. Mr. YiXiong GU from the World Zen Art Center was also invited to perform Zen brush painting. With the calm Zen music, Mr. Gu performed his landscape paintings, and the audience, either standing or sitting on the floor, experienced the tranquil feelings. The participants, whether adults or young kids, all enjoyed a good time and showed a strong interest in Chinese culture. What a lively festive!
China Institute was founded nearly 90 ago. The move to the new premises in downtown Manhattan, which quadruples the space from the original 9000-foot to 52,000 foot, has a historic significance. The increased facility will greatly magnify the service capacity and will attract more people to learn Chinese culture. With the concern of the Sino-US relations in the world, China Institute has been playing an important role as a bridge in the East-West cultural exchanges. From the website of China Institute, we know that China Institute, with its establishment in 1926, is a non-partisan, non-profit cultural and educational organization. It was the first in America to promote the Chinese traditional and modern culture and serves as a window for American people to understand China. Peking Opera master Mei Lanfang was invited by China Institute to perform in the United States, which amazed the western world the essence of Chinese culture. China Institute was also the home of the Chinese students and scholars to the United States to study Western culture in the past. Over the years of development, China Institute has built its signature programs in education, art exhibitions and various cultural lectures for westerners to deepen their understanding of China.
This is my first glimpse of China Institute. And I wish a greater success of China Institute in the future!
紐約華美協進社舉行喬遷典禮

2015年9月12日上午11：00時,華美協進社在紐約下城Rector街40號舉行了隆重的喬遷典禮儀式。首先由舞獅鑼鼓開場，吸引了很多民衆。很多人帶領自己的孩子前來咨詢相關文化活動。在新教室裏有舞蹈、太極拳、烹饪和中文課等教學展示。活動還特邀請世界禅藝術研究院古一雄居士前来展演禅書畫，使得熱鬧的現場有一處教室裏，大家寂靜的聽着禅樂，觀賞古居士揮毫潑墨，別有一番甯靜的感受和體驗。在華美協進社成立近九十周年之際，這次搬遷至紐約下城Rector街新址具有曆史性意義。從原來舊址的9000呎大小，增加至5萬2000呎。使用的展覽廳、會議室和教室的空間，都比以前大了很多。這將利于更多的吸納喜歡學習中國文化的學生。當今中美關係在世界上深受關注，華美協進社在東西方文化交流方面，一直都發揮着重要的橋樑作用。在華美協進社的網站上了解到，成立于1926年的華美協進社，是一無黨派、非盈利的文化教育組織。它是第一個以美國社會為對象，通過傳播中華文明和現代文化，成為美國社會了解中國的窗口。從早年引薦京劇大師梅蘭芳首次來美國演出，使得西方世界對中國文化精粹嘆為觀止。到接引早期中國留學生、學者來美國學習西方文化，成為海外遊子的聚會所。多年來，華美協進社通過設立課堂教育、舉辦藝術展覽及各項文化講座，不僅為西方人學習中國語言、文化、藝術，提供了一個重要的公共空間；同時也在不同的歷史時期，為西方人乃至海外華人，敞開了一扇透視中國社會狀況的窗口。更多的使西方人從這裏看到中國，並日益加深對中國的了解。這是喬遷典禮現場掠影，願華美協進社更加精進！
