Zhi Xiang Shi

Venerable Zen Master Zhi Xiang Shi (Miao Ding), also known as Master Jì Dao, was born in 1963 in Shunping, Hebei, China. In 1987, he graduated from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, earning a Bachelor’s degree and the title of Associate Senior Artist. With a focus on Zen art, he dedicated many years to the study of Zen Buddhist art. Previously employed at academies of calligraphy and painting, as well as museums, he later chose to renounce the worldly life and become a Buddhist monk. Currently, he resides in Flushing, New York, and is based at the Benjue Zen Temple. He is currently the abbot of the Benjue Zen Temple in New York. Honorary academician of World Zen Art Center.

The World Zen Art Center (WZAC-NY) is a distinguished non-profit institution dedicated to the research and promotion of Zen art. Established in the State of New York on December 15, 2012, it operates under the esteemed guidance of Master Yi-Xiong Gu, a highly respected figure in this field. Our Mission is to explore the essence of Zen Tao and art, fostering their growth and flourishing both in the United States and globally. We aim to ensure that these cultural treasures are appreciated and preserved for future generations.
